SHARK™ Bi-Directional DC-DC Charger

The SHARK™ Bi-Directional DC-DC Charger from ABYSS BATTERY® connects a vessel’s 12V starting system and 36V lithium trolling motor bank through automatic, two-way power conversion. A core component of the INFINITE™ power ecosystem, SHARK helps marine dealers, installers, and OEM boat builders put available battery capacity to work across the vessel.

How it works: In boost mode, SHARK steps up alternator-supplied power from the 12V system to recharge the 36V trolling motor bank while the engine runs. In buck mode, it reverses the transfer, converting energy from the 36V bank to maintain the starting battery and support connected 12V loads. Voltage-based control determines when charging starts and stops. When neither charging condition is met, a low-draw sleep mode conserves energy until charging can resume.

With up to 60A on the 12V side and peak conversion efficiency of 95.5%, SHARK delivers controlled power transfer in a compact, IP67-rated die-cast aluminum enclosure. Fanless cooling and built-in overvoltage, short-circuit, and thermal protection support dependable operation. CAN communication and compatibility with the CRYSTAL X3 monitorsupport integrated monitoring and system diagnostics.

For new builds, repowers, and electrical refits, SHARK gives marine professionals greater flexibility in how onboard power is specified and installed. In appropriately designed systems, sharing energy between battery banks can reduce dedicated house battery requirements, freeing installation space and reducing battery weight. Battery capacity, connected loads, and available alternator output determine the right configuration for each vessel.
